We picnicked, explored the forest, investigated banana slugs and tromped through muddy bogs and in and out of the scrubby bush along the trail. We went as far as the little ones could walk before having to turn around to make it back in decent time. By the ‘little ones’ I mean the younger siblings of the three families that came, all 2 years and under. Those are wee toddler legs! And all three of them kept up with their older counterparts, running happily back and forth three times to the adults’ one.
We love getting into the forest, as often as possible. When we lived in Pemberton we could be in the wilds within five minutes, with big rivers and big bears and wild berries and trails with no one in sight for miles. It’s harder in the city, but do-able.
And so very worth it! Glorious.
